MAUI NEEDS OUR KŌKUA!

We never thought we’d hear anything like this: “In the wake of the disaster, Maui looks like a war zone.” We’re putting out a kāhea (a call) to everyone to lend a helping hand to our Maui `ohana (families). Let’s all be guided by the Aloha Spirt as we pitch in to help rebuild Maui and its people. Here are some ways you can kōkua:

• Maui Strong: Hawai`i Community Foundation is working with the County of Maui and Maui Rapid Response (Maui Mutual Aid Network). Maui Strong - Hawaii Community Foundation

• Kāko`o Maui: Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA) is fiscally sponsoring Kāko`o Haleakala, a Maui organizing group. Kākoʻo Maui (memberplanet.com)

• Maui Aloha, The People’s Response: Efforts focus on the grassroots level, especially for community resources that were lost. They are partnering with Hawai`i Community Foundation. Hawaii Peoples Fund - Maui Aloha: The Peopleʻs Response (networkforgood.com)

• Maui United Way Fire Disaster Relief: Providing direct relief to families, as well as other nonprofits. Maui Fire and Disaster Relief Donation Page (mauiunitedway.org)

• Maui Mutual Aid: The Mutual Rapid Response network is highly connected on the ground in Maui and Lahaina and is best positioned for rapid deployment and facilitating community members supporting each other. This is a good place to make a small one-time donation ASAP if you want to help efforts like food deployment while another infrastructure is being set up in real-time in partnership with other organizations like Hawai`i Community Foundation.
